Changelog

Content changes to Context Thinking, newest first. Live in Dutch first; other languages follow.

2026-10-08

  • content (verified via PubMed): primary sources from the In-Mind article "Tussen de regels lezen" (Thomeer & Vermeulen, 2026) added where claims had none, in all six languages. Psychosis on the very-strong-first-degree-thinking page (Fletcher & Frith 2009; Liddle & Liddle 2022, with the caveat that a causal role is not yet shown), cognitive inflexibility on the OCD page (Chamberlain et al. 2021), and frontolimbic inhibition in borderline on the personality disorders page (Silbersweig et al. 2007)
  • new section: "Stress makes everyone temporarily context-blind" on the burnout and depression page, based on Arnsten (2009)
  • author page and bibliography: the In-Mind article and the Huisarts Nu article added as publications and core references
  • fix: the Huisarts Nu article was cited with the wrong subtitle on the high-sensitivity page. It now reads "waarom sommige patiënten zo moeilijk te begrijpen zijn", as published

2026-10-07

  • design: new presentation layer across the site, with the content unchanged word for word. Body text is set in Source Serif 4, self-hosted. The reading line went from about 108 to 75 characters. The palette is now a muted ink blue with a warm accent, and header, content and footer share one grid
  • navigation: pages with four or more sections get a table of contents built from their existing headings, as a sticky side column on desktop
  • accessibility: the dropdown menus only opened on hover and could not be reached by keyboard. They now open on click and close with Escape. The homepage title contrast went from 2.6:1 to 6.8:1, and the hero image now also shows on mobile
  • 404 page: available in all six languages instead of Dutch only, and no longer requests Google Fonts
  • technical: favicon, logo and stylesheet carry a version in their URL, so a changed file reaches returning visitors despite the one-year browser cache

2026-10-06

  • new logo mark: a C around a dot, identical in favicon and logo. The old icon turned into a blur at 16 px. The old logo had only ever shown the C, because of the same gradient bug fixed earlier in the favicon, and it was teal while the rest of the site is blue

2026-10-03

  • statistics: visitor numbers now come from the server logs via logwatch instead of Google Analytics, which saw about a third of the visitors. Search Console figures come from the same database, so the page no longer calls Google at all. A short explanation of what counts as a visitor was added in all six languages (refined on 2026-10-05)
  • deployment: every deploy now resubmits the sitemap to Search Console and reports the changed pages to IndexNow through a tool shared by all sites. Noindex pages are left out

2026-09-27

  • SEO: media paths from the old MediaWiki (/images/…) now return 410 Gone instead of 404, so search engines drop them sooner. None of the logged 404s came from a broken internal link

2026-09-25

  • statistics: page rebuilt with Search Console figures next to Analytics, plus an explanation of why the two differ so much. Charts are drawn as SVG without an external library
  • fix: PHP errors were never logged because the settings file was named user.ini instead of .user.ini, and the hosting only reads the latter

2026-09-22

  • figures: three diagrams had Dutch words burnt into the image and showed them in all six languages. The words are now real text over a shared drawing without text, translated per language and readable by screen readers. In five languages, alt texts that were just the file name were replaced with real descriptions
  • quality: every image is registered as language-neutral, per language or third-party, and the content audit flags a page that shows the wrong language variant

2026-09-16

  • mind-mirror effect in care: removed a section on emotional contagion and compassion fatigue. It described transfer from patient to caregiver, while the page is about the opposite direction: the caregiver assuming the patient processes information the way they do. The literature remains on the main mind-mirror effect page

2026-09-01

  • empathy and thinking styles: new section on hyper-empathy, which splits the term into two opposite patterns. The test is whether the reaction is tuned to the surroundings, or whether the surroundings have to adapt to the person. Based on Vermeulen's distinction between sympathy and empathy (Een gesloten boek, 2005, checked against the book itself)
  • lexicon: new entry on alexithymia, described as context blindness turned inward
  • links: the intense world theory, autism and high sensitivity pages now link to the empathy page, which had no incoming link from any topic page

2026-08-28

  • new page: "Support this project", in all six languages, under More information in the navigation. It asks readers who find the site useful to link to it from their own website, explains where such a link makes sense, and lists other ways to help: passing it on to colleagues, citing it under the CC licence, reporting errors and suggesting missing literature. No anchor text is prescribed and nothing is expected in return
  • robustness: the page-view counter can no longer take a page down. It runs on every request for one decorative footer line, so a locked, missing or corrupt SQLite database used to produce HTTP 500 across the whole site; it now degrades to a page without the view count. The lock timeout was also lowered from the PDO default of 60 seconds, which could have left a page hanging for a minute on the counter
  • languages: Italian added as the sixth language. All 35 content pages were translated from the Dutch source, with the same HTML structure, so every page now has an Italian counterpart at /it/ with its own navigation, footer, hreflang entry and sitemap entries. The Italian text has not yet been reviewed by a native speaker
  • deployment: replaced the editor's upload-on-save sync with a single deploy command that validates before it uploads (PHP syntax, Tailwind build, content audit, sitemap XML, llms.txt), syncs over rsync, verifies the live site, and only then submits changed pages to IndexNow
  • privacy: the Inter webfont is no longer loaded from Google Fonts. It was requested on every page but never actually applied, so removing it changes nothing visually while ending a data flow to a third party that the privacy statement did not cover
  • fix: the site icon showed only a C. Both strokes of the T referenced a gradient that, under the SVG default units, cannot apply to a shape whose bounding box has zero height or width — so they were never rendered. The icon now shows CT, and favicon.ico and apple-touch-icon.png were added
  • technical: legacy MediaWiki entry points (/index.php, /api.php) now redirect permanently to the site root instead of returning 404, which also recovers their link value; stylesheet gained a cache-busting version parameter; configuration files are no longer served over HTTP
  • housekeeping: 404 logging narrowed to entries with diagnostic value, and roughly 1.4 GB of leftovers from the MediaWiki era removed from the server

2026-07-14

  • SEO: bridge-term titles and meta descriptions for 9 topic pages (all 5 languages) linking the site's own concepts to common search terms; definition-first meta description for "what is context"
  • content (verified via PubMed): heritability figures added to the heredity page (autism 64–91%, ADHD ~74%, environmental sensitivity 0.47); UK +787% diagnosis trend and "no real increase under standardised criteria" added to the more-diagnoses page; intense world theory page gained its 2007 origin, the valproic-acid animal model, and human fMRI evidence (Green et al.) with a balanced context-dependent-sensitivity note
  • content: comparison table (low vs high-contextual thinking) on the spectrum page
  • schema: DefinedTermSet/DefinedTerm for the lexicon pages; Person.url localised per language; language-specific description removed from the shared WebSite node
  • technical: language root redirect made non-cacheable (no-store + Vary: Accept-Language); /{lang} now 301; single-hop http+www redirect; llms.txt made spec-compliant with per-link descriptions
  • fix: author-page LinkedIn link now points to linkedin.com; five truncated summary blocks completed

2026-05-31

  • new topic (NL only, for now): "Hoogsensitiviteit: één woord, drie verhalen" — high sensitivity (SPS) is not a diagnosis; three mechanistically distinct patterns under one label, with the bidirectional misclassification pitfall
  • cross-links: sensory overload, autism and high-context examples pages now reference the new page; autism + central bibliography gained the Greven et al. (2019) reference; homepage and NL navigation updated
  • note: EN/FR/DE/ES translations of this page are still pending — the content audit will flag the missing language versions until they land

2026-05-26

  • schema: WebSite/Organization/Person merged into one @id-linked @graph; Article gained image, mainEntityOfPage and author.sameAs (ORCID + LinkedIn); author page now ProfilePage
  • dates: datePublished decoupled from filemtime (stable per-page publication date); dateModified unchanged
  • performance: WebP variants for all images, served via .htaccess Accept-negotiation (~55% smaller)
  • accessibility: skip-to-content link added; larger tap targets for the language switcher; hamburger button enlarged
  • fix: robots.txt ai-crawler token corrected (GoogleExtended → Google-Extended); footer horizontal overflow on tablet widths resolved

2026-05-25

  • bibliography: central page restructured into an index
  • references: numbered reference list added to every topic page
  • topics: burnout/depression, sensory overload, intense world theory, ocd, empathy, mind-mirror effect, multidimensional profile, basic trust — deepened with verified literature
  • supporting pages: reference lists added (dsm, autism, adhd, personality disorders, heredity, treatment, …)
  • lexicon: + predictive coding, salience network, contextual empathy, epistemic trust, inferential confusion
  • examples: + "Hoogsensitiviteit vs Autisme" communiqué (Bergsma, Van De Voorde & Vermeulen, 2025)
  • ocd: dropped ocd-vs-ocpd section; rewrote summary; "OCS" → "OCD"
  • fix: corrected Happé & Booth 2008 pmid; replaced dead dsm-5 link

2026-05-22

  • pages: "Denkstijl, niet gender" (thinking style, not gender) translated to en/fr/de/es
  • content: removed wiki/MediaWiki self-references across all languages
  • figures: illustrations integrated across all 5 languages
  • faq: visually reworked with per-question social (og) images

2026-05-21

  • multidimensional profile: autism-spectrum symptom circle embedded (all languages)
